How much would should I be looking at to pay for rent in Auckland or Wellington

How much would should I be looking at to pay for rent in Auckland or Wellington?
I'm having to make my budget now because I am going there on a working visa from England and I have never been before. I figure that these are the two biggest cities so these will probably be the most expensive to live in. Are bills such as Electricity and water counted on as part of the rent or are they separate? I'm looking to live in a shared property with maybe 2/3 people (price for this generally?) but if I don't find anyone how much would single rent be? As an Idea of a house, I'm not after much, I'm only 22 and I am willing to compromise but I would like a well looked after house/flat at least :P. Thank you all for answers. How much should I* Woops typo :P

Have a look at www.trademe.co.nz under the property listings you shall find the "Rent "section there. Tademe is really popular here in NZ very similar to eBay. That shall give you a great understanding of how much you shall be looking at to rent. As to water and electricity, that is on top of the rent "usually" but not always Christchurch could be another option for you to look at as far as bigger cities, perhaps even Hamilton Dunedin Tauranga and New Plymouth which apparently has the highest growth in employment at the moment Good Luck !!

It sounds like you'll want to stay fairly close to the city centre so you'll be looking at city prices which are more than those in the suburbs and surrounding areas. I can't comment on Auckland, but in Wellington you can expect to pay around $150 - $200 per week for a room in a shared flat or apartment. You may find somewhere for less, but it could easily be more. Whether electricity is included in the price depends on the setup at each flat, but if it is included your rent will probably be at the high end of the prices above. You might be able to score a studio or 1-bedroom apartment in the $200-$300 range, but electricity would be additional. There's an excess of apartments in Wellington at the moment and rumours of people receiving 1-2 weeks free rent or free car parking when they sign a lease so if you time things right you might find a better deal. Two bedroom apartments are generally in the $300-$400/week price range.

Come to Ashhursrt 15 kilometres from Palmerston North. and you can board with me for $80.00 per week plus cost. Power. $25.00 per week. Rates. $25.00 per week Water free. Plus food, internet, phone etc

electricity- $150/ month water- idk rent- $70- 200, depends... have a look around on www.trademe.co.nz

I Don't Do art at High School but want a career in animation etc. wat should i do

I Don't Do art at High School but want a career in animation etc. wat should i do?
Hi, Im 17 (last year of school next year) and live in New Zealand. I don't do art at school (kinda wish i did), but instead do it privately. I want to eventually go to Cal Arts or Woodbury university (through financial aid), doing character animation, after there go to Pixar or dreamworks etc. working up the ranks as an animator eventually becoming a director and screenwriter of live action and animated films. I can, after high school, go to community college to gain my art credits. My question is do i need art credits for my career choice or is my private art good enough. My other career path is going to film school in wellington. Does anyone have any feedback on these choices? Also first hand accounts of anyone who has done anything here would be useful. Thanks alot, :) I just want direction and advice, i'm not necessarily going to follow answers exactly

The art credits would definitely be helpful, but when you apply for things make sure you tell them you have a portfolio of private work to show them.

Don't listen to other people do what you really want to, don't let us influence somthing that'll affect the rest of your life

Doing both would be helpful. I've heard the private schools get you closer, but depending on who you want to work for, they might not be enough... And if you want to go straight to Cal Arts, it probably won't work. Most Universities/etc. accept more transfer students than straight from high school applicants, so the Comunity College start would probably be good. Ask around a bit for sure. As you know though, it's not necessarily the amount of schooling that counts, but the lever of skill too. Just make sure you get into practice animating, maybe post some stuff around. Work with story lines, etc. I know there are quite a few Youtubers who do this, and for some they use stuff that received good ratings as their portfolio. I left a link below with someone who does this sort of thing. They're either professional or working towards it I think? They may have info... I wish you good luck!^_^

English Grammar question

English Grammar question?
I need help with numbers 2, 4, 5 1.2 Name the underlined and numbered tenses (or verb phrases) in the following text and comment on the meaning. Example: was waiting = past progressive (or continuous) used to talk about an activity in progress that was interrupted As I ---was waiting--- (1) in line at the immigration counter, I ---became--- (2) aware of the fact that I was surrounded by people of my own nationality once again. I ---had been--- (3) away for almost five years and I was no longer used to their accents and style of dressing. Finally, my passport ---was stamped--- (4) by a man who welcomed me back home and I exited into the arrival lounge of the airport. My parents were there to greet me. ‘You ---haven’t changed---- (5) at all,’ said my mother as she hugged me. My father avoided saying anything personal. ‘Not a very good welcome home, I’m afraid. 1.2 Name the underlined and numbered tenses (or verb phrases) in the following text and comment on the meaning. 1- Past progressive. It describes a past action which was happening when another action occurred. 2- Irregular past tense. It expresses an action or situation that was started and finished in the past. 3- Past perfect progressive. It describes a past, ongoing action that was completed before some other past action. 4- Past perfect. It designates action in the past just as simple past does, but the action of the past perfect is action completed in the past before another action. (not certain about this one, sorry). 5- Present perfect, It describes an action that happened at an indefinite time in the past or that began in the past and continues in the present. 6- Present progressive. It describes an ongoing action that is happening at the same time the statement is written. 1.3. When studying verb phrases with foreign learners, it is often necessary to analyse the form of each verb phrase, that is, to break it down into its component parts. I'm not familiar with that format so I'll answer in the way I learned in high school. 7. Present perfect progressive = auxiliaries have been + main verb live + ‘-ing’ 8- Future progressive tense = auxiliaries will be + main verb leave + ‘-ing’ 9. Present Simple Tense = auxiliary are + main verb made 3.2 List the number of syllables and mark the stressed syllable in the following words: 1. PHOtograph (3) phoTOgrapher (4) photoGRAPHic (4) 2. Some questions, where to socialize, meet people in Wellington

Some questions, where to socialize, meet people in Wellington?
Sorry I’m gonna type a long text to give more idea on what I’m looking for. I’m a Brazilian guy, 24 years old and I’m living for more than 1 year in NZ now. I’m working and starting some little business here, so I’ll stay for something like 5 years in NZ I guess. Not sure about. The big problem is that I’m living in a small town 100km far from Wellington. I used to have many friends back home, and I’m finding hard to socialize here, because this small town has few people of my age. I usually socialize with 24 to 34 years old people. Here in the town is more like 40+ aged people. When I see people that I think I’d socialize, they’re from Wellington. At the most I guess I’m nice bloke, I like to laugh and talk shit, but like smart conversations too, I like music as I was DJ back home, like to play guitar too.. and so on.. many things. I’m not so bad on socializing, I have no trouble on talking with good looking girls or not, and I really would like to meet more kiwi people (more than other foreigners) for a cultural exchange reason. So based on it, the questions: Question1: I want to make friends, but of course I’m considering have a girlfriend here. What I’ve liked about kiwi girls, some of them are pretty polite and easy to talk. So what do they thing about foreigners? I did see many cases of smart and pretty girls getting foreigner boyfriends, so I guess they are very open minded on this, eh? Question2: So, I’m ok to drive down and spend weekends or evenings in Wellington to get socialized, but I don’t know where to start, even more because I’m on my own, just me. Any suggestions? One thing I tried is Ceroc dance but I’d like more suggestions. Question3: I plan to go to uni but only next year, I can’t wait for so long to socialize. Lol... Anyway, what do you suggest for my profile and for Business School, Massey or Victoria? Thanks and sorry for the big text Thanks for all the good answers :)

You say you live 100km from Wellington. Why was the question asked via the United States? 1/. Have you tried getting involved with community groups in your area. 2/. Try Courtney Place for a start. 3/. Go to Massey. Palmerston North is a great social town.
2 :
Bro if you're at least decent looking with the whole brazilian thing going on with the accent and all that you'll be able to bang so so many chicks lol. Courtenay Place is where the clubs are if you want to go do that. Check out a rugby game at the cake tin. Wellington is easy to walk around so you could just wonder around and see what you find. You play football? You could join a sports team. Make a facebook and join groups and find poeple on there. Study at Victoria.

Yeah Palmy might be a goer...but Wellington is a really exciting vibrant city...maybe hit up a cafe or bar and get chatting to the locals. Go watch a play or gig where there will be pletny of opportunities to socialize. If you need a tour guide then I have LOADS of mates down there who would be more than happy to show you around :)
4 :
Lots of questions. Lol. Uh perhaps go to downtown Welly. Yup. We welcome foreigners. I'm not sure about the dating part. Why don't you have friends? Are you here by yourself? Don't you know anybody at all? I would say.. Massey.
5 :
You sure will be limited to meeting people your age where you are as most young people have probably moved to wellington. Go to Victoria university your social life should be good in Wellington join a club like Badminton table tennis or a walking or atheltic group.
6 :
I don't know much about NZ but one thing I did when I was stuck in a small town was make friends online with people who lived in the city. You could go onto a site like http://www.6rounds.com and search for people in Wellington and then if you hit it off with someone, you'll have a starting point for socializing once you're in the city.
7 :
If you're 100km's from Wellington you'll struggle to socialise with the locals. You need to move to Wellington city or possibly Petone for a social life bud. And choose Victoria over Massey, it's simply a much better University.
