i'd suggest a warm pair of mittens or look into hand warmers, they last about 8 hours, for feet i'd look into a warm pair of ski/snowboard socks.

First thing is you need the right socks. Merino wool ski socks or a polypropelene blend ski socks. Your feet need to be able to wick away moisture away from the skin to stay dry (which in turn helps keep feet warm. A thicker sock is not necessary. Although if it is really cold out I might throw another lightweight ski sock over a first pair if it dips below 15 degrees F. But keep in mind that the more socks or thicker socks will have an effect on ski/ride performance! You might also try a dry heat pad for skiing. They are a dry chemical in a pouch that is meant to place inside the gloves and the toe heat pad has a sticky side to it to keep it in place in your boot. Find some of these at ski shops and follow its directions. If you still aren't staying warm, it is always good to take a break, go inside and take your boots off and rub your toes/fingers (as long as you haven't suffered any frostbite!). You should go inside before frostbite can set in. Also... don't leave ski boots outside in a vehicle overnight or leave them in a cold trunk if you travel far to go skiing. Your boots will be much more inviting if they are already inside room temperature.

What I do is wear north face gloves, and they keep my hands nice and warm. Then for my feet, I wear a thick pair of socks, and some thinsulated boots. Keeps me toasty.

Financial Advice/Adviser Expenses, Income, Future

Financial Advice/Adviser Expenses, Income, Future?
You are a financial adviser and have been employed to write a report recommending a financial plan for your clients (the Wellington family). This plan will be based on their current financial circumstances, and you will need to justify your advice. Income : Ben - aged 42 net monthly $6200 Prue- Age 39 net monthly $1100 Assets: House $680 000 market value Joint bank savings account $12500 Bens supperannuation $85000 currently invested in a cash fund. Prue's super : nil. Ben's redundancy payout from previous job $58000 Other investments: nil. Liabilites: Outstanding 4.75% variable rate mortagage $180 000 Credit Card balance (interest rate 17.5% pa.) $4400 Cost of necessary home repairs $4000 Cost of upgrading car: $5000 CHILDREN GOALS: Luke, 17, is completing high school and hopes to commence work as an apprentice electrician next year. Brook is age 15 and wants to study drama at university after completing high school in 2 years. BEN AND PRUE'S GOALS: Ben intends to continue working fulltime for the next 20 years and is in hurry to pay out the mortgage early. Similarly, Prue intends to continue working part time. They both agree they want to build up savings for their retirement in the most tax effective manner and to make better use of long term investments such as shares.. THIS IS REALLY CONFUSING ME?!? I NEED HELP!! AND ADVISE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

They are not giving you any guidance here. You need to find out what the savings rate is. I will assume 10% or about $700 a month. I would put it in the deferred savings plan and get it vested in the market. I would maximize the previous super and top load Ben since he is older. After he is maximized I would max out Prue. I see a glaring life insurance need, about $800k for Ben and about $250 for Prue. 20 year term should do the trick. It is very vague, but that is how I would do it in real life.

What do you think of these Smart Meters

What do you think of these Smart Meters?
I'd like to hear everyone's opinion. My apartment complex had PG & E or Wellington install a smart meter. My bill from PG & E shot up an extra $100. Now lets see, I live alone, I work 8hrs a day five days a week. I'm hardly ever here. I shut off everything, all but the AC when I leave. Who wants to walk into a 100 degree house after work?..! No one. SO Basically this is a way to control all of us...is it not. I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I am a responsible person and I pay my taxes in this F! country! and I don't need a machine to or a government to tell me how to conserve electricity. Let me tell you what I think this smart meter will bring for America's future...The working class is the heart of this country and when you take away our freedom of chose, you'll run us out. Right the Hell out! Without our tax dollars you can say goodbye to world order and peace.

The AC uses a lot of power, that's really a waste to leave it on when you're at work or not at home. It only takes like a half hour to cool down a house..... You'd save a lot of money by turning that AC off.

Why don't you get a programmible thermostat and set it to turn the A/C on about an hour before you get home?
